Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Welding Field Engineer in Pecos, TX to lead field welding programs on a major gas-fired power project. You will support the Lead Field Welding Engineer, manage welding initiatives, review work plans, and ensure program compliance on site.

The role requires a bachelor's degree and 2–5 or 6–9 years of relevant experience, with certifications in SMAW/GTAW/GMAW/FCAW and NDE. Expect a long-term on-site assignment with Bechtel processes and tools.

Qualifications

• NDE Level II Visual Examination certs or equivalent.
• Knowledge of AWS, API, NFPA, AWWA, ASTM and ASNT codes and standards.
• Heavy industrial direct-hire construction experience.
• Advanced SMAW / GTAW / GMAW / FCAW certifications.
• Preheat / Post-weld heat treatment understanding.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate site welding program implementation with Field Engineer teams.
• Maintain Bechtel Field Welding program across welding operations.
• Provide welding engineering support to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Assist in managing pre/post-weld heat treatment program.
• Oversee rod room materials and ensure material control.
• Schedule and coordinate NDE with construction for efficiency and cost control.
• Review welding documents and ensure program credibility and accountability.
• Perform field inspections and advise on defects and rectifications.
