Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Barberton, Ohio, is seeking a Welding Engineering Intern for a 10–12 week summer program. The intern will support welding engineering projects, improve shop processes, and assist with weld procedure development in a nuclear manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full time in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology with a welding emphasis, or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of relevant coursework completed.
• Prior internship experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience or knowledge with basic arc welding processes such as GTAW, SMAW, SAW, and GMAW; robotics/automated processes knowledge is preferred but not required.
• Strong technical problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Support welding engineering projects, improvements, and welding engineering specific functions.
• Lead 5S/process improvement projects relating to shop operation jobs.
• Assist with welding procedure development and interpretations.
• Perform welding operation and system audits.
• Apply knowledge of welding processes to support shop floor operations and troubleshooting.
