Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Euclid, Ohio invites motivated Materials Engineer Interns to join our Materials Engineering group.

You will provide hands-on laboratory support, perform metallographic prep, SEM work, and assist with materials testing, processing, and data management under supervision. The position emphasizes attention to detail, exposure to forging, heat treatment, and corrosion processes, plus collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Enrollment into a Materials Science and Engineering BS program.
• Attention to detail and self-motivation to complete tasks thoroughly.
• Strong verbal skills and clear, concise compositional skills.

Responsibilities

• Metallurgical laboratory support, including metallographic preparation and analysis, SEM, and limited chemical and mechanical testing.
• Hands-on and administrative support of materials-related projects/studies/investigations including forging, thermal processing, plating, corrosion and cleaning processes.
• Hands-on heat treatment of tooling and R&D material.
• Interpret/understand material, processing and testing specifications/standards.
• Research and understand metallurgical phenomena.
• Materials-related data analysis and database creation/management.
• Work with Materials, NDE, Quality, Purchasing, Floor Supervisors/Personnel and Suppliers as needed.
