Job summary

Kovoro seeks a Welding Engineer in Houston to develop, qualify, and maintain WPS and PQR documentation to ASME, AWS, and API standards. You will oversee welder qualification testing, maintain CWR records, and coordinate NDE programs to ensure weld integrity.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Welding Engineering or related field, 5+ years in heavy industrial fabrication, AWS CWI certification, and strong knowledge of ASME IX, AWS D1.1, and ASME B31.3. CWE/PE a plus.

Qualifications

• BS in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science preferred; equivalent trade experience considered.
• 5+ years of welding engineering experience in heavy industrial or pressure equipment fabrication.
• AWS CWI certification required; CWE or PE licensure a strong plus.
• Deep knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and ASME B31.3 code requirements.
• Experience with NDE method qualification and Level II NDE technician coordination.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, and maintain WPS and PQR documentation to ASME, AWS, and API standards.
• Oversee welder qualification testing and maintain CWR records.
• Investigate and resolve weld defects and NCRs.
• Support NDE program coordination (RT, UT, MT, PT).
• Drive continuous improvement in weld quality and productivity through process optimization and welder training.
