Job summary

Metalforms is seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to provide technical expertise for the manufacture of heat exchangers and pressure equipment. The role covers welding engineering, code compliance, manufacturing support, and ongoing process improvement.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to resolve welding challenges, improve quality and productivity, and reduce costs. Training welders and supporting ASME audits are also involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding, Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant welding engineering experience in heavy fabrication, pressure vessels, or heat exchangers.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, maintain, and standardize Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and welder qualifications per ASME and customer requirements.
• Review drawings and project requirements; prepare weld maps and instructions.
• Provide technical guidance on welding processes, PWHT, filler metals, and metallurgy.
• Support manufacturing in troubleshooting weld issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate to reduce rework, improve productivity, and control costs.
• Train welders and engineers; share knowledge with TransTech welding teams.
• Maintain procedures and quality controls in line with codes and ISO 9001.
