Job summary

Metalforms, now part of TransTech Group, is seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to lead welding technology development for heat exchangers and related pressure equipment. You will ensure ASME code compliance, develop WPS/PQR, and drive continuous improvements in welding processes, quality, and cost.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to resolve complex welding challenges, implement automation opportunities, and support audits across ISO 9001 programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding, Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7+ years welding engineering experience in pressure vessel/heat exchanger/heavy fabrication environments.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII/IX and welding procedure qualification.
• Ability to troubleshoot shop welding issues and interpret drawings & codes.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and standardize Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and welder qualifications.
• Review customer specs, drawings, and project requirements; prepare weld maps and instructions.
• Provide guidance on welding processes, metallurgy, filler metals, PWHT, and specialized applications.
• Assist manufacturing in troubleshooting weld defects and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to reduce rework and costs.
• Support Sales Engineering with welding spec reviews and cost estimates.
• Maintain welding procedures and quality controls per codes and customer specs.
• Identify opportunities for welding automation and process improvement.
• Train welders, inspectors, engineers, and manufacturing personnel.
