Job summary

Metalforms, now part of the TransTech Group, is seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to support heat exchanger and pressure equipment manufacturing in Beaumont/Houston, TX. The role emphasizes welding process optimization, code compliance with ASME, and collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to resolve welding challenges.

You will develop WPS/PQRs, review drawings, and guide welders and inspectors while pursuing cost reduction and productivity gains in a heavy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding, Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 7 years of welding engineering experience
• Experience with pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or heavy fabrication
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and codes

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, maintain, and standardize WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications per ASME and customer needs
• Review customer specs and prepare weld maps and instructions
• Provide guidance on welding processes, metallurgy, filler metals, PWHT
• Support manufacturing in troubleshooting weld issues and corrective actions
• Collaborate to reduce rework, improve productivity and control costs
• Support sales engineering with welding specs and cost estimates
• Maintain welding procedures and quality controls per codes
• Identify opportunities for welding automation and standardization
