Alexander Daniels Global is recruiting an on-site Welding Engineer near Cleveland, OH to advance and deploy our client's additive manufacturing technology. Qualifications

Job description

POSITION SNAPSHOT: Our client is seeking to add an on-site Welding Engineer to their team near Cleveland, OH. This role is a technical, customer-facing position focused on advancing and deploying our client's proprietary additive manufacturing technology across the United States. The successful candidate will serve as the subject matter expert for welding process development, qualification, and optimization, translating customer requirements and specifications into compliant, high-quality manufacturing solutions. Responsibilities include developing welding parameters for Directed Energy Deposition (DED)-arc applications, supporting production and customer operations, conducting root cause analyses, interpreting weld quality and testing data, and collaborating with engineering, materials, software, and manufacturing teams to drive continuous process improvements and new product capabilities.

The position requires deep expertise in welding engineering, metallurgy, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technologies. The engineer will develop material-specific welding procedures using advanced GMAW controls, oversee qualification testing, evaluate mechanical and non-destructive examination results, and contribute to the development of in-process monitoring technologies. Additionally, the role involves creating additive manufacturing build strategies using CAD tools, supporting fabrication and machining activities across a broad range of alloys, and maintaining knowledge of industry standards such as AWS, ASME, ASTM, NAVSEA, DEFSTAN, and ISO. The engineer will also play a key role in knowledge sharing through technical documentation, white papers, and customer education while developing expertise in our client's proprietary software platforms.

Candidates should possess a BS or MS in Welding Engineering, an equivalent international welding qualification, or an engineering degree with a welding specialization, coupled with experience in manufacturing environments that utilize welding and robotics. Strong knowledge of metallurgy, welding inspection methods, failure analysis, and additive manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
