Job summary

Watlow in Hannibal, MO is seeking an experienced Welding Automation Engineering Technician to join a cross‑functional technology team. You will operate and refine automated welding systems, develop production‑ready processes, and train production personnel on safe operation of equipment.

The role emphasizes transitioning skilled manual welding to robust automated processes, collaboration with Welding Engineering and Controls/Mechanical Engineering, and a strong focus on safety and process

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, or automated manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, drawings, and process docs.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment and manufacturing-process problems.
• Experience collecting process data and maintaining parameter records.
• Willingness to work on the factory floor or in an engineering lab.
• Ability to train and communicate effectively with operators and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Operate robotic and automated welding systems for development and production.
• Develop and optimize weld programs, torch positions, speeds, and parameters.
• Translate manual welding techniques into repeatable automated processes.
• Set up tooling, fixtures, equipment, shielding gas, and automation systems for trials.
• Execute pilot, development, and validation welds per test plans.
• Record weld parameters and test results in a disciplined, repeatable manner.
