Job summary

Des Moines Area Community College is seeking an Adjunct Welding Instructor to start as soon as possible. Days and times to be determined. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

The position pays $1,123 per equivalent credit hour. Applicants must meet one of several welding qualifications and pass a hands-on welding test. The instructor will teach courses, apply diverse instructional strategies, and maintain a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in welding or related field or 18 welding credit hours.
• Associate’s degree + 3,000 hours welding experience.
• Welding diploma with 6,000 hours welding experience; licensed practitioner exception may apply.
• Must pass hands-on welding test.
• Ability to establish professional relationships with diverse individuals.

Responsibilities

• Teaches courses according to competencies and syllabi.
• Utilizes varied instructional strategies to meet diverse learning styles.
• Maintains a safe and civil learning environment and informs students about requirements.
• Monitors attendance, progress and competency attainment.
