Job summary

Aims Community College seeks a welding instructor to teach a broad range of welding and cutting processes, ensuring safety and effective student outcomes. The role includes supervising facilities, evaluating student work, and supporting department equipment maintenance.

The incumbent will engage in ongoing professional development, participate in curriculum reviews, and help strengthen industry partnerships. This is a part-time position with some benefits depending on hours worked.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate welding ability; pass welding tests.
• WEL 1000: Associate degree or higher OR 2000 hours in safety program OR current safety certification.
• WEL 1001, 1003, 1010, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2024, 2030, 2031, 2050, 2089: Associate degree or higher and 4000 hours welding experience; demonstrable expertise in listed processes.
• Meets WEL topics via AWS/ASME/API/AWWA or equivalent certifications or transcripts; may be obtained within first three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Instruct welding and cutting processes per industry standards; supervise lab safety.
• Evaluate student work and assign grades; maintain equipment.
• Assist in maintenance and repair of welding program equipment.
• Participate in professional development and curriculum review.
• Collaborate with faculty to meet program goals and diversity commitments.
• Develop and revise department curriculum to stay current.
