Job summary

Eastern Iowa Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Adjunct Instructor to teach welding at the Maquoketa Center. The position involves up to 12 credit hours per term, instruction for academic credit or CE, and contributing to program outcomes.

Responsibilities include delivering courses in welding, assessing learning outcomes, maintaining office hours, advising students, and collaborating on curriculum development across sites.

Qualifications

• Welding and at least 6,000 hours of relevant tested work experience in the occupational area (or related area) in which the instructor teaches classes.
• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Welding or a related field.
• Completion of criminal background checks and FERPA training prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Teach welding courses, assess learning outcomes, and possibly deliver courses via alternative methods, evening sessions, and multiple sites.
• Meet promptly with scheduled classes.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings unless excused by the Academic Dean.
• Assure that student outcomes are achieved in each course.
• Evaluate and record student performance and achievement on a regular basis and provide regular student feedback.
• Maintain established office hours and meet with students as necessary.
• Refer students to Academic Support and Student Services as needed and meet recommended student/instructional accommodations as required.
• Serve as a student academic advisor.
• Develop and administer assessment instruments to validate student outcome achievement.
• Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and grade records of all students.
