Structural Shipyard Welder / Industrial MIG Welder
Avail Staffing is hiring experienced Structural ShipyardWelders and Industrial MIG Welders to support shipbuilding, ship repair,and industrial manufacturing projects. We are looking for dependable welderswho take pride in quality workmanship, work safely, and can perform indemanding production environments.
Position Overview
As a Structural Shipyard Welder / Industrial MIG Welder,you will perform welding and fabrication on structural components, assemblies,and equipment. Candidates may work in shipyard, marine, industrial, andmanufacturing environments depending on project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Performstructural welding on naval and commercial vessels, ship components, andindustrial structures.
- PerformMIG/GMAW welding on carbon steel and other materials as required.
- Readand interpret blueprints, weld symbols, drawings, and work instructions.
- Performfillet, groove, and structural welds according to project specifications.
- Set upand operate welding machines, leads, grinders, cutting equipment, andrelated tools.
- Fit,align, tack, and weld structural components to required dimensions andtolerances.
- Performwelding in various positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, andoverhead.
- Inspectwelds for quality, penetration, appearance, and defects.
- Grind,clean, and prepare surfaces before and after welding.
- FollowNAVSEA, shipyard, customer, and project-specific welding procedures whenapplicable.
- Maintaina safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Followall OSHA, shipyard, and company safety requirements.
- Workeffectively with shipfitters, welders, pipefitters, supervisors, and othertrades.
- Meetproduction schedules while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Qualifications
- Previousexperience as a Structural Welder, Shipyard Welder, MIG Welder, orIndustrial Welder.
- Experiencewelding carbon steel in a shipyard, industrial, manufacturing, orconstruction environment.
- Abilityto read and understand blueprints and welding symbols.
- Abilityto pass a company or customer weld test as required.
- Familiaritywith MIG/GMAW welding processes.
- Abilityto use grinders, hand tools, measuring tools, and welding equipmentsafely.
- Strongattention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Abilityto work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and physically demandingshipyard environments.
- Mustbe dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Previousnaval shipyard experience is preferred for structural shipyard positions.

- Blueprintand weld-symbol interpretation
