Job summary

Avail Staffing seeks experienced pipe welders for shipyard ship repair and new construction projects in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must weld various piping systems aboard naval or commercial vessels with high-quality workmanship and strict safety standards.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, interpreting welding procedures, and fabricating carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel piping. Proficiency in SMAW/TIG/FCAW and NAVSEA knowledge are valuable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of pipe welding in shipyard, industrial, or marine environment.
  • Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, and/or FCAW welding processes.
  • Ability to pass a hands-on welding test.
  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel piping systems preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA standards is a plus.
  • Must lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Reliable transportation and strong attendance required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW welding on pipe systems aboard ships/submarines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding procedures.
  • Fabricate, fit, and weld piping systems from carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel.
  • Prepare pipe surfaces for welding, including grinding, beveling, and alignment.
  • Complete welding in confined spaces, elevated areas, and shipboard environments.
  • Conduct pipe repairs, replacements, and new installations per NAVSEA and shipyard standards.
  • Operate hand tools, grinders, torches, and welding equipment safely.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas following OSHA and shipyard safety rules.
  • Collaborate with pipefitters, supervisors, and QA inspectors to meet schedules.
