Job description

Responsibilities

We are hiring for 3rd shift (9pm - 5:30am, Sun-Thurs).

Purpose of the Position: Perform welding and metal preparation tasks such as sanding and grinding configurations.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Use and properly care for PPE.
  2. Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to determine assembly methods.
  3. Read and interpret work orders.
  4. Use basic hand tools like tape measures and specialty equipment.
  5. Learn and operate all equipment within the work area (cell).
  6. Perform rework as required.
  7. Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives and participate in RCI events.
  8. Be willing to move to other work areas to support production needs (cross-train).
  9. Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials using shop math and layout techniques.
  10. Perform MIG welding using arc and gas welding equipment.
  11. Inspect assemblies/components for conformance to specifications.
  12. Trim, file, grind, sand, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces using hand and power tools.
  13. Willing to train new or current associates.
  14. Follow safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  15. Maintain work area and tools/equipment.
  16. Maintain daily time records.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned, which may vary by location.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  1. High School Diploma or GED required.
  2. Vocational training preferred.
  3. AWS D.1.1 weld certification required.
  4. Ability to read, write, and comprehend.
  5. Basic computer skills required.
  6. Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics.
  7. Proficient in welding and mechanical skills.

Additional Information:

  • Maintain a clean work area (5S).
  • Assist co-workers and group leads as needed.
  • Participate in RCI events.
  • Knowledge of Altec programs and systems is a plus.
  • Shift work may be required.
