Job summary

SpaceX in McGregor, TX seeks a Welder to join a skilled team building structural and fluid systems for extensive testing campaigns. You will weld with FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW across various materials, interpret drawings, and collaborate with engineers to ensure efficient, safe operations.

You must meet the basic qualifications and be able to work in a high-paced environment, with the ability to handle hazardous materials and work at elevated heights as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 2+ years of experience in two of FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW (experience from a welding program qualifies).

Responsibilities

• Perform at least two welding processes based on business needs: FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and/or GMAW.
• Fit up and weld structures or pipe spools of carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, or exotics as needed.
• Communicate with management, engineering, and planners to improve build efficiency.
• Do fabrication math from drawings to derive dimensions, angles, and lengths.
• Analyze drawings and specs to plan welding when procedures are unavailable.
• Suggest process improvements to reduce turnaround times and streamline work.
• Check drawings and instructions after each Work Order to ensure completion.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials per approved methods.
• Set up safety equipment and platforms at elevation and work safely at heights.
