Job description

Wastequip Steel Division has an immediate opportunity for a Welder to support our Lakeland, FL manufacturing operation. The ideal candidate will be a MIG Welder with prior experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

1. Position parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks.
2. Lay out, position, and tack weld workpieces.
3. Weld along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines.
4. Connect regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch. Adjust gas flow and pressure to obtain desired flame. Guide torch to cut metal accurately.
5. Examine welds for bead size and adherence to specifications.
6. Scarfs or grooves welds and parts as needed.
7. Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
9. Regularly stand, walk, reach, stoop, lift, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move 90 lbs.

• Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED.
2. One to six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
3. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
4. Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading, fractions, and decimals.
5. Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
6. Ability to read blueprints and measuring tapes.
7. Experience in a fast-paced production environment preferred.
8. Able to pass all EHS required tests and clearances.
