Job summary

Royston Group is seeking a Spot Welder to join our manufacturing team. The role requires reading blueprints and travelers to determine welding needs, laying out parts to drawings, and performing welds on steel, aluminum, and stainless components.

The position involves welding in various orientations and requires maintaining a clean, safe work area. The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least six months of manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to determine welding requirements.
  • Layout components by hand and by fixtures to drawing specifications.
  • Weld steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components to production standards.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week plus overtime and some Saturdays.

  • Operate several types of hand and powered tools.
  • Communicate effectively with team, coworkers, management, and office personnel.

Job description

Spot Welder operates several types of equipment to join metal parts thereby creating the components of our product line.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities
  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week plus overtime and some Saturdays
  • Weld components using the proper method which results in a product without defects
  • Operate several types of hand and powered tools
  • Communicate effectively with team, coworkers, management, and office personnel
  • Work independently and in a team environment
  • Meet company-wide continuous improvement, performance goals and safety policies
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
Including Formal Training (courses, degrees, and credentials required)
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to determine specific welding requirements
  • Layout components/parts by hand to drawing specifications and measure to ensure correct locations/orientations before welding process
  • Layout components/parts by utilizing fixtures, jigs, and tables according to drawing specifications
  • Weld steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components accurately to production standards by setting heat, gas and pressures to make uniform and strong welds
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Examine weld for bead size, penetration, and other specifications
  • Clean weld area of weld spatter/other non-conformities utilizing various hand and power tools
  • Utilize all required PPE properly and appropriately
  • Move and stack materials
  • Carry out instructions of leader
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to reduce waste and prevent accidents
  • Work under minimal supervision
Experience (type And Amount Of Experience Required)

High School diploma or equivalent

Six months experience in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

General problem-solving and decision-making skills within limits of the positional scope

  • This position involves a reasonable degree of independent judgment
  • Ability to stand, walk continuously
  • Ability to regularly lift, move and carry 10 – 50 pounds
  • Ability to push, pull, twist, stoop, kneel and reach regularly
  • The position works within a manufacturing facility which may be loud, dusty, and is not temperature controlled
