Job summary

Royston Plant is seeking a Spot Welder to join the manufacturing team. You will operate welding equipment to join metal parts, read drawings, and follow process specifications to produce defect-free components.

The role requires teamwork, safety adherence, and the ability to work both independently and with others. Responsibilities include laying out components per drawings, using fixtures, performing welds in various positions, inspecting welds, and maintaining clean work areas.

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to determine welding requirements.
  • Layout components/parts by hand to drawing specifications and measure for correct locations.
  • Weld steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components to production standards by setting heat, gas and pressures.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Examine welds for bead size and penetration.
  • Clean weld area of spatter and non-conformities using hand and power tools.
  • Maintain PPE and safety procedures at all times.
  • Move and stack materials as required.
  • Work under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Use hand and powered tools to finish and inspect welds.
  • Communicate effectively with team, coworkers, and management.

The Spot Welder operates several types of equipment to join metal parts thereby creating the components of our product line.

EssentialFunctions/Job Responsibilities:
  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week plus, overtime and some SaturdaysWeld components using the proper method which results in a product without defectsOperate several types of hand and powered toolsCommunicate effectively with team, coworkers, management, and office personnelWork independently and in a team environmentMeet company-wide continuous improvement, performance goals and safety policies

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to determine specific welding requirementsLayout components/parts by hand to drawing specifications and measure to ensure correct locations/orientations before welding processLayout components/parts by utilizing fixtures, jigs, and tables according to drawing specificationsWeld steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components accurately to production standards by setting heat, gas and pressures to make uniform and strong weldsWeld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positionsExamine weld for bead size, penetration, and other specificationsClean weld area of weld spatter/other non-conformities utilizing various hand and power toolsUtilize all required PPE properly and appropriatelyMove and stack materialsCarry out instructions of leaderMaintain housekeeping standards to reduce waste and prevent accidentsWork under minimal supervision
Experience(typeandamountofexperience required):

High School diploma or equivalent

Six months experience in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements:

  • This position involves a reasonable degree of independent judgmentAbility to stand, walk continuouslyAbility to regularly lift, move and carry 10 – 50 poundsAbility to push, pull, twist, stoop, kneel and reach regularlyThe position works within a manufacturing facility which may be loud, dusty, and is not temperature controlled
