Job summary

ColonialWebb Contractors Company in Richmond, VA is seeking a Welder for Special Projects to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and weld piping systems for industrial processes. You will read drawings, cut and thread pipe, join fittings, and perform welding across multiple techniques while ensuring safety and quality.

You must have AWS 6G certification or the ability to obtain it, plus BOCA/OSHA knowledge and the weld test, all while mentoring apprentices and delivering reliable results on

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of BOCA and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Ability to obtain AWS 6G certification.
  • Ability to pass ColonialWebb weld test.
  • Ability to work from drawings, submittals and specifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork, with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specs.
  • Cut pipe and thread using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Assemble and install metal and nonmetal piping and fittings.
  • Weld pipes and components using various techniques (electric, gas, arc, MIG, TIG).
  • Test piping systems for leaks and inspect gauges for indications of leaks.
  • Coach apprentices and helpers to ensure safety and quality.
