Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Food Sanitary Welder and Maintenance Industrial Mechanic responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating equipment in food manufacturing facilities while adhering to strict sanitary standards. This role involves working fewer than 30 hours per week with flexible schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain all equipment efficiently, ensuring product quality, employee safety, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Manage responsibilities across production lines, prep areas, storage, chillers, ventilation, fire and safety systems, buildings, CIP, and chemicals.
  • Support adherence to the production schedule, ensuring high levels of customer service and efficiency through effective equipment operation and minimal downtime.

Sanitary Welding:

  • Perform TIG or MIG welding on stainless steel components and plasma cutting to meet food safety standards.
  • Fabricate and repair piping, tanks, and other equipment used in food production.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery such as conveyors, pumps, packaging lines, and refrigeration systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Install and align machinery based on blueprints and manuals.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery for repairs or upgrades.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow safety protocols and food-grade standards (e.g., SQF, GMP), including hot work permits and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Inspect equipment for contamination risks and maintain cleanliness.

Documentation:

  • Maintain maintenance records and parts inventory.
  • Communicate issues to supervisors and team members.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance tasks and maintain records in e-maintenance.
  • Keep maintenance areas organized and ensure effective communication between maintenance and operations.
  • Identify and report compliance issues and assist in executing health and safety action plans.
  • Inspect equipment and systems, troubleshoot problems, and work with blueprints to identify solutions.
  • Work with equipment requiring access to heights, using proper training and PPE.
  • Perform other maintenance tasks as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs.
  • Ability to read blueprints, plans, and manuals.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in welding or maintenance preferred.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience, ideally in the food industry.
  • Technical skills in TIG, MIG, plasma welding, and reading manuals.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or at heights.
  • CWB welding certification or equivalent is a plus.

Pay Range for Part-Time Welder

The hourly pay range is $30-35 USD, based on qualifications and experience. This range is specific to our Lynn, MA location and is reviewed regularly. The position is eligible for benefits and a discretionary bonus of up to 5%. We comply with all wage laws.
