Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a production welder to perform MIG welding on structural steel such as rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe and beams. The role requires attention to detail in a fast-paced production setting and includes overtime and day-one benefits.

The position offers a Night Shift from 4:30 pm to 5:00 am with a $25 base pay plus a $1 shift differential for night hours. Training and career growth are supported as part of the comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of welding experience in a production environment or a welding certification.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certifications per Cornerstone procedures.
• Forklift/overhead crane experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with power hand tools.
• Willingness to train and operate forklift and overhead crane.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work well in a team.
• Basic math and use of measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and precautions in a manufacturing setting.
• Set weld parameters, gun speed, travel and gas flow based on bead condition.
• Read tape measures and blueprints to shop standards.
• Adjust welding techniques as needed for holes, burn-throughs, or gaps.
• Train others in proper welding procedures per procedures.
• Operate overhead crane and lifting equipment as required.
• Maintain bead quality, shape, size, and penetrations.
• Keep numerical/alphabetic sequences correct.
• Support continuous improvement in the work area.
• Communicate effectively while performing duties.

Job Description

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a motivated and experienced production welder to join our team! This position engages in the full scope of MIG weld processes on a variety of structural steel including (but not limited to) rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe, beam canopy rafters, small parts, clips, and special assemblies. Welded parts may include thin gauge, painted, or galvanized material. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of welding techniques and have a high attention to detail in a fast-pace production environment.

The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and paid time off on day one and mentorship support to ensure successful team member growth and development. Overtime is anticipated with this full-time, direct hire opportunity.

JOB DETAILS

Pay: $25 Base Pay ($1 Shift Differential for Night Shift)

Night Shift: 4:30 pm - 5:00 am

• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with observed condition of bead
• Ability to read a tape measure and blue prints to shop standard
• Ability to decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
• Ability to decide how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn through caused by auto welder
• Ability to train and teach proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
• Ability to operate overhead crane and other lifting equipment
• Responsible for holding bead to specified shape, size and penetrations while maintain the quality of the product
• Responsible for keeping numerical and alphabetical sequences correct
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience welding in a production environment or valid welding certification
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands welding procedures
• Experience with a forklift and/or overhead crane operation a plus
• Comfort and familiarity with power hand tools
• Willingness to train, certify, and operate forklift and overhead crane
• Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• General mathematical knowledge and proficiency with basic measuring instruments
