Job summary

Port View Resources is seeking skilled Welders for full-time roles with two shifts (days and evenings) in a Virginia Beach facility. The ideal candidate will weld using MIG processes, read blueprints, and maintain quality and safety standards in a factory environment.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, fabricating components, inspecting welds, and collaborating with engineers and quality control. Overtime available, but not required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, vocational training or welding certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional welder experience.
  • Proficient in MIG welding and reading blueprints.
  • Knowledge of welding codes (AWS/ASME) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on varied metals per blueprints and specs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Set up welding equipment and adjust parameters as required.
  • Fabricate components and structures per engineering specs.
  • Inspect welds for quality and compliance with standards.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and follow safety protocols.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and communicate issues to supervisors.
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in training.

Job description

Our partner is seeking multiple skilled and experienced Welders to join their team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in MIG welding and blueprint reading, with a strong commitment to quality and safety. As a Full-time Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and components according to specifications and blueprints in a factory environment.

This is a full-time position and 2 shifts are offered. First shift is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 430 pm. Second shift runs four ten hour days, Monday through Thursday, 5 pm to 3:30 am. Overtime is available, but not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG welding on various metals and alloys, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to understand project requirements
  • Set up welding equipment, including power sources, wire feeders, and shielding gas systems
  • Select appropriate welding techniques, equipment, and materials based on job specifications
  • Fabricate metal components and structures according to blueprints and engineering specifications
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and project requirements
  • Perform necessary repairs or modifications to existing metal structures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations
  • Collaborate with other team members, including fabricators, engineers, and quality control personnel
  • Troubleshoot welding equipment and report any malfunctions or issues to supervisors
  • Participate in ongoing training and skill development to stay current with industry advancements
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding preferred
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience as a professional welder
  • Proficiency in MIG welding techniques and equipment
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and ability to interpret technical drawings
  • Knowledge of various metals and their properties
  • Familiarity with welding codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME)
  • Experience with other welding processes (TIG, Stick) is a plus
  • Valid welding certification(s) preferred
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
