Job summary

Shultz Steel LLC seeks a skilled Welder to lay out, fit, weld, and assemble metal structures such as machinery frames, tanks and furnaces. You will work with SMAW, GMAW and GTAW while following safety rules and quality standards.

The role requires 4–6 years of welding experience, an Associate's degree in welding, and the ability to read drawings and operate various tools. On-site work with a robust benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals and procedures.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.
  • Understanding of geometry, trigonometry and measurement concepts.
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Ability to read drawings and fit pipes for welding.

Responsibilities

  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly and welding.
  • Lays out, positions and fits components together.
  • Bolts, clamps and tack-welds parts to secure for welding.
  • Sets up welding equipment and welds parts using SMAW, GMAW, GTAW.
  • Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, reshaping and reassembling parts.
  • Maintain and repair shop equipment and tools.
  • Assist Senior Welders as needed.

Job Description
Position Summary:

Lays out, fits, torch cuts, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structure forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts by performing the following duties. Responsible for fabricating, joining, and repairing metal structures using various welding processes like shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Repairs dies by grinding, scarfing and welding techniques.
  • Maintain and make minor repairs to welding and other shop equipment.
  • Assisting Senior Welders
Required Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Demonstrate, in practice, the ability to read drawings, shape and fit pipes, choose welding method, perform welding, inspect welding.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Forklift & Aerial Lift Equipment certification.
  • Safety training: Fire Safety, LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection etc.
Experience & Education
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in welding; and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $21.50 to $26.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
