Job summary

Enerflex is seeking an intermediate welder to perform routine welding across a range of metals and weldable materials. You will join, fabricate and repair components using MIG, TIG, fluxcore, or stick welding, under moderate supervision.

The role emphasizes safety, quality and teamwork as part of daily operations. Qualified candidates have at least one year of welding experience, the ability to read blueprints, and must pass relevant 3G/6G tests.

Job description

Summary

Intermediate level position is responsible for completing routine welding assignments within clearly defined processes. The welder joins, fabricates and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Works under moderate supervision.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties
  • Uses metal core mig, tig, fluxcore or stick welding process (must pass two or more)
  • Ability to pass applicable test(s) and applicable Non-Destructive Exam
  • May weld brackets and braces and use grinders. May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. May perform position welds on code materials.
  • Proficient in flame and plasma cutting torches.
  • Must have some experience reading and understanding blueprints.
  • Must be able to operate basic cutting equipment.
  • Promotes and supports safety, production, and positive attitude. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
  • Requires employee to rarely type and use a computer and other office equipment, such as copier, printer, calendar, telephones, etc.
  • Requires operation of heavy equipment such as welding tools on a constant frequency and forklift on an occasional frequency
  • Able to weld according to Welding Procedure Specification and its parameter requirements.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Preferred Education

  • High School Diploma
  • Welding School

Required Experience & Skills

  • Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe, structural and vessel materials
  • Must pass a 3G test for vessel/tower or 6G test pipe
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience

Preferred Training & Certifications

  • Certification to weld on pipe or plate

Physical Requirements
  • Requires employee to stand for at least 90% of the time
  • Requires employee to sit for at least 10% of the time
  • Requires employee to occasionally inspect equipment, climb stairs or ladders and must be able to maintain balance on stairs or ladders without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers and emergency cues/alarms, in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Requires work in outdoor conditions, including all weather conditions & unairconditioned facility
  • Requires work on loud environment
  • Requires moving and maintaining self in different positions, stoop, kneel, crouch to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
  • Must wear all required PPE, including fire-retardant clothing, helmets, face shields, hearing protection, safety goggles, steel-toed boots, as applicable.
  • Position rarely requires travel
  • Position rarely employee drive
