Job summary

GEA Group, located in York, PA, is seeking a Welder II to join our Production Team. You will perform welding and assembly for complex packages, heat exchangers and vessels, including sub assemblies and piping.

Training of newer staff and adherence to safety and quality specs are key parts of the role. Standard vessels, heat exchangers, and compressor packages are produced; you will read blueprints, use basic math, and demonstrate strong dexterity and endurance on a concrete work surface.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in structural/pipe welding in lieu of formal degree
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational degrees encouraged
  • Proficiency in pipe welding: Mig, Tig, Pulse; ability to pass 6G qualification

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture complex custom packages, heat exchangers and vessels per specs and budgets
  • Assemble/weld sub-assemblies and water boxes; install components and piping
  • Train less experienced employees; perform other duties as assigned
  • Follow safety rules and read blueprints accurately

Complex Custom Packages, Heat Exchangers and Vessels
  • Performs all operations in the manufacture of custom packages, heat exchangers and vessels to required specifications and budgets.
  • Assembles and welds sub assembly parts
  • Welds internal and external parts
  • Assembles and welds water boxes
  • Sub arc tube sheets
  • Welds tube to tube sheet
  • Installs package components
  • Assembles weld and installs system piping
  • Assist in training less experienced employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Standard Vessels and Heat Exchangers
  • Performs all operations in the manufacture of standard separators, receivers, and heat exchangers to required specifications and budgets
  • Assembles, welds, and installs sub assembly parts
  • Welds internal and external parts
  • Installs heads and sub arc
  • Assembles and welds supports, legs and angles
  • Assembles and welds water boxes
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Standard Compressor Packages
  • Performs all operations in the manufacture of standard compressor packages to required specifications and budgets.
  • Assembles and welds sub assembly parts
  • Installs package components
  • Assembles weld and installs system piping
  • Assist in training less experienced employees
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Certified Vocational Degrees Preferred
  • Minimum Experience: 3+ years' experience in lieu of vocational degree/certificate in structural / pipe welding
  • Pipe welding (Ability to qualify in a 6G test for Mig, Pulse and Tig)
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • Basic fabrication skills
  • Comprehension of safety rules
  • Sit, stand, reach, walk for periods of time on concrete surface.
  • Ability to lift / carry 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity to operate tools and or machinery.

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $29.00 - $34.36 per hour. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
