Job summary

FAST Global Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Welder for our Weekend Shift in Glenwood, MN. The role requires interpreting blueprints and welding to specification. We offer a $2,500 sign-on bonus and a strong ESOP culture with opportunities to grow and learn.

Work schedule runs Fri–Sun, 6:00 am–6:30 pm with overtime as needed. This position supports a team that keeps operations moving worldwide and values craftsmanship, safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.
• Basic language and math skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP software (Dynamics AX or D365 preferred).

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine welding requirements.
• Connects cables from welding unit to adjust amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified.
• Guides electrode or gun along weld line to form specified fusion and bead.
• Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions.
• Examines weld for bead size and specifications.
• Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
• Positions and clamps workpieces together or in fixtures.
• Selects torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux per specifications.
• Tacks assemblies together.
• Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
• Cleans or de-greases parts.
• Moves parts and finished product in/out of welding area.

Our Weekend Shift runs from 6:00 am – 6:30 pm, Fri day through Sunday, with overtime as needed.

Job duties and responsibilities:

• Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements.


• Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by engineer.


• Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld and size of molten puddle.


• Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions.


• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.


• Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.


• Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures.


• Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material.


• Tacks assemblies together.


• Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.


• Cleans or de-greases parts.


• Move parts in and moves finished product out of welding area.

Job Requirements:

• A qualified candidate will have a high school diploma, GED, or at least 1-3 months related experience.


• Must have basic language and math skills and reasoning ability.


• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or Dynamics D365 is preferred.


• Must be able to stand continuously for a 10 hour shift and lift up to 50 lbs.


• Vision with depth perception is required.


• Ability to work in varying temperatures and levels of humidity.


• Personal protective equipment will be provided by FAST and must be worn in the required areas.
