Job summary

FAST Global Solutions is seeking a Welder for our Weekend Shift in Glenwood, MN. The role offers a Sign-On Bonus of $2,500 and a weekend schedule from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm Friday through Sunday with overtime as needed.

The ideal candidate will interpret blueprints, set welding parameters, and weld in various positions while maintaining safety and quality. Benefits include ESOP ownership, holidays, PTO, and shoe reimbursement.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience.
• Basic language and math skills and reasoning ability.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software; Dynamics AX or D365 preferred.
• Able to stand for a 10 hour shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Depth perception/vision required.
• Able to work in varying temperatures and humidity levels.
• PPE provided and must be worn in required areas.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings to determine welding requirements.
• Connect cables from welding unit to adjust amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified.
• Guide electrode or gun along weld line with correct arc length and movement to achieve required fusion and bead.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Examine weld bead size and other specifications.
• Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
• Position and clamp workpieces or assemble in jig/fixtures.
• Select torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux per specifications or material.
• Tack assemblies together.
• Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
• Clean or de-grease parts.
• Move parts in and move finished product out of welding area.

Job duties and responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements.
• Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by engineer.
• Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld and size of molten puddle.
• Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions.
• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes.
• Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures.
• Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material.
• Tacks assemblies together.
• Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter.
• Cleans or de-greases parts.
• Move parts in and moves finished product out of welding area.

Job Requirements

• A qualified candidate will have a high school diploma, GED, or at least 1-3 months related experience.

• Personal protective equipment will be provided by FAST and must be worn in the required areas.
