Job summary

MGX Equipment Services in Belle Chasse, LA seeks a Welder to join our production team. You will weld parts to blueprint specifications, ensuring quality and on-time production in a hands-on shop environment.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role requires strong reading of blueprints, proper use of measuring tools, and adherence to safety standards with PPE. Training and certification maintenance are part of the position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must pass AWS D1.1 in the flat weld position - 2G - Grove test within 2 weeks of training.
• Maintain certification by using the process at least once in a six-month period.
• Familiarity with welding methods and techniques, equipment, setup and operation.
• Familiarity with assembly and fabrication practices.
• Ability to read and interpret routine welding and fabrication drawings; use measuring devices such as ruler, scale, square, protractor; fractional, decimal and metric measuring methods.
• Other duties as determined by supervision.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
• Work safely and wear PPE as required by policy.
• Eye examinations and vision requirements for welding positions.

Responsibilities

• Identify parts and materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints / weld symbols.
• Read standard measuring devices to the nearest 1/32 inch.
• Set up and use standard fixturing.
• Operate overhead cranes and jib hoists.
• Perform basic shop math and measurements.
• Maintain required paperwork and safety procedures.
• Pass required vision and safety evaluations.
