Job summary

Smeal SFA in Snyder, NE, is seeking a Welder to join the production team. You will perform MIG and TIG welding, read blueprints, and contribute to fabricating and assembling fire apparatus components.

The role requires reading tapes, following shop math, and maintaining welding equipment. You will work in a team, follow safety procedures, and support TPM initiatives.

Qualifications

• Preferred 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
• Must read blueprints, engineering drawings and perform shop math to layout, fabricate, and weld parts.
• Must process knowledge and experience in GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG Welding).
• Ability to communicate professionally and follow directions.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Successful completion of the drug and background screening

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding procedures including machine settings, bottles, and fittings.
• Welding aluminum and set up and maintain welding machine and accessories.
• Inspect welds for cracks, burn-through, and spatter.
• Welding of aluminum and stainless steel where required.
• Grind and clean welded areas.
• Stay current in TPM and basic mechanical adjustments on equipment.
• Follow hazardous waste disposal and fire prevention procedures.
