Responsibilities
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts using submerged arc, gas-shielded arc, and MIG material types, including black iron.
  • Studies and interprets shop drawings to determine necessary work. Utilizes materials efficiently to minimize waste and rework, ensuring adherence to quality and production standards.
  • Maintains the work area in a clean, orderly condition, and follows prescribed safety regulations (supports implementation of 6S). Maintains required personal tools, and properly uses all PPE and safety equipment.
  • Ensures the proper recording of time spent on individual work orders is accurate. Keeps the shop foreman and other key project personnel aware of all issues affecting production, schedule and cost. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the foreman. Notifies the supervisor of equipment malfunction and performs operator-based maintenance as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required. Preferred: Certification in MIG and SubArc welding.
  • MIG and SubArc certifications are required. Must have 1-2 years of experience for each certification.
  • 1-2 years of experience
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Ability to operate Piping Standard Work Instructions (SWI) Welding is required.
