Job description

Summary:

The Welder Helper will assist welders in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal structures and equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding and metalworking, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. The Welder Helper will work under the supervision of a lead welder and will be responsible for ensuring that all welding equipment and materials are properly prepared and maintained.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist welders in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal structures and equipment
2. Prepare welding equipment and materials for use
3. Clean and maintain welding equipment and work area
4. Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
5. Operate hand and power tools
6. Assist in the layout and assembly of metal components
7. Perform other duties as assigned by lead welder

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Experience in welding and metalworking
3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
4. Ability to operate hand and power tools
5. Ability to work in a team environment
6. Ability to lift heavy objects

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

1. Some job duties are performed within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate-controlled tolerances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
2. When the employee is at a work site, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The noise in the work environment is often loud.
3. Requires a consistent physical presence at the branch office to oversee shared services functions and employees, normally achieved by working standard business hours. Certain positions will require flexibility of working hours to meet the demands of the job and the direction of the manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
