Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking a Welder in the United States to maintain and repair shoring and shielding equipment, ensuring rental readiness and safety for customers. You’ll support the Trench Safety rental line and contribute to branch productivity through skilled welding and fabrication.

The role emphasizes welding (Arc, MIG, TIG), adherence to OSHA safety standards, and occasional travel to job sites for on-site repairs. A high school diploma and welding certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Welding school certification required.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in Arc, MIG and TIG welding.
• Knowledge of metals and materials for shoring, shielding, and slide rail applications.
• Must be able to burn efficiently with good quality.
• Identify welder type and wire/rod size needed for safe repairs.
• Knowledge of OSHA state and local trench/shoring requirements.
• OSHA safe working practices for underground equipment.

Responsibilities

• Layout and apply the appropriate weld type per specifications.
• Inspect, repair and paint rental equipment to ensure rental readiness and safety.
• Perform non-structural repairs or modifications per manufacturer specs.
• Provide on-site welding support for shoring installations.
• Fabricate projects in the facility as required.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance when needed.
• Complete work orders and maintain related parts inventory.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
