Job summary

IES Infrastructure Solutions in Manitowoc, WI is seeking a Welder/Fabricator to fabricate and weld steel structures per customer specs. The role includes fitting from blueprints, training responsibilities, and contributing to project efficiency on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years welding experience, strong blueprint reading, and the ability to pass weld qualification tests. Overhead crane certification is preferred, with safety and continuous improvement emphasis.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a welder’s training program or certification or completion of the Wisconsin Heavy Fabrication welder certification.
• 2 Years of Welding Experience
• Experience in a production environment desired.
• Experience in heavy fabrications required.
• Overhead crane certification
• Solid knowledge of welding theory
• Thorough understanding of blue prints and weld maps; Able to read most weld symbols
• Must be able to pass weld qualification test(s) for this level - overhead flux core weld test
• Able to read and follow all weld work instructions and consistently weld within parameters
• Advanced ability to fit parts from blueprints with little supervision
• Ability to weld with up to 3/32 weld wire
• Ability to clearly communicate weld requirements
• Candidate must be able to pass a Jaeger J2 vision test

Responsibilities

• Read weld symbols and correctly fit parts from blueprints
• Support team leaders by monitoring and reporting information necessary regarding projects, processes and problems.
• May assist with the estimation process by providing input on processes and labor requirements
• Participate in customer or potential customer visits
• Use of blue prints, tape measure, and mathematical skills
• Inspect part prior to fit and ensure proper alignment
• Ensure orientation of part is correct
• Visually inspect part prior to fitting to ensure proper conformance
• Visually inspect joint for cleanliness and depth
• Fit parts, while keeping within specification
• Weld flat and horizontal GMAW
• Weld flat horizontal and vertical flux core
• Clean part after welding
• Operate overhead crane; Properly inspect rigging equipment and use proper rigging technique
• Complete operator sign-off
• Record job and section in time matrix
• Follow all EHS policies in order to work safely; fully engage in behavioral based safety initiatives
• Support all continuous improvement initiatives
• Other duties as assigned
