Job summary

Malcolm Drilling in Mukwonago, WI seeks a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join a legacy deep foundation team. You will weld, cut, and fabricate components for drill rigs, augers, and casing systems, reading blueprints and welding symbols to exact specs.

You will operate SMAW, MIG, FCAW and stick processes, perform routine maintenance on equipment, follow safety protocols, and collaborate with engineers and field crews to ensure quality and on-time project execution.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical welding/fabrication certification preferred.
• 2+ years welding/fabrication experience, ideally in foundation drilling or heavy equipment.
• Familiarity with SMAW, GMAW/MIG, FCAW and Stick welding.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication tasks on foundation drilling equipment (drill rigs, augers, casing systems).
• Inspect welding workpieces for defects and ensure standards compliance.
• Use torch cutting equipment to cut and shape metal as required.
• Operate welding equipment (air arc, plasma cutters, MIG welders).
• Fabricate metal structures by welding, cutting, arc gouging with measurement tools.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain clean, organized workspace.
• Document welding activities and maintain accurate records.

Job Title: Welder/Fabricator

Location: Mukwonago, WI Office — No Travel Required

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding and fabrication tasks on foundation drilling equipment, including but not limited to drill rigs, augers, and casing systems.
• Inspect welding workpieces for defects and ensure they meet industry standards and specifications.
• Use torch cutting equipment to cut and shape metal as required.
• Operate welding equipment and tools, including air arcing, plasma cutters and MIG welders
• Fabricate metal structures by welding, cutting, arc gouging, with an understanding of various measuring tools.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs on welding equipment and tools.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other field personnel to ensure welding tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to execute welding tasks.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Document welding activities and maintain accurate records of work performed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding or fabrication preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in welding and fabrication, preferably in the foundation drilling or heavy equipment industry.
• Familiar with all four most popular welding types: shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW / MIG), flux cored arc welding (FCAW), and stick
• Strong understanding of welding standards and codes, such as AWS (American Welding Society) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Weld different types of metals into place in accordance with given blueprints.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to [50] lbs unassisted; stand, bend, kneel, and weld in overhead and confined positions for extended periods; and work in a shop environment with heat, noise, and fumes while wearing required PPE, including respiratory protection
