Job description

PrideStaff is currently seeking dependable and motivated WELDERS / FABRICATORS for a manufacturing client located in Joliet, IL. This company manufactures parts for the construction and transportation industries.

1ST SHIFT 6:00am-3:30pm M-F
5 HOURS BUILT-IN OT WEEKLY!!

$18-$19 per hour

The WELDER / FABRICATOR is responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials while operating appropriate equipment to put different fabricated steel items together. The Welder must be safety conscious, have a steady hand, and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metals and their properties is essential.

Job Duties:

• Read blueprints/drawings and take/read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Operate machinery and other components by welding pieces and filing gaps
• Align components using calipers, rulers, etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
• Inspect weld surfaces and structure to discover flaws if certified
• Inspect finished products for defects to ensure quality standards are met
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Solid written and oral communication skills (must be able to communicate in English
• Bilingual in Spanish PREFERRED
• Proven experience as a welder
• Ability to multi-task and handle tasks with competing priorities effectively
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.)
• Experience using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Detail-oriented, excellent organization and time management skills
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• At least 6 months recent welding and/or fabrication experience
• Professional Certification required for certain processes
