Description

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:

• Reads blueprints for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut. Obtains and transfers stock to machine
• Measures work for conformance to specifications
• Retrieves parts from staging areas
• Helps prep weldments for priming and finish coating
• Positions and secures work piece to table, angle plate, or vises and verifies position
• Interprets machine readings and adds or subtracts weight depending on the reading
• Drills, grinds, chips, or files metal from heavy side or welds, solders or rivets pieces to light side to correct imbalance
• Verifies dimensions of machined work piece with a tape measure within 1/8 of an inch.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficient in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques and processes
• 4+ years of fabrication experience preferred
• Structural welding experience preferred
• Basic math skills, especially the ability to read a tape measure and measuring instruments
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications
