Job summary

Exyte US, Inc. in Colchester, VT, is seeking a skilled welder to support PSP products. The role focuses on GTAW and GMAW welding with emphasis on quality, safety, and Lean manufacturing principles.

You will set up, weld stainless steel and black iron, read engineering prints, troubleshoot equipment, and work as part of a team. Prior welding experience and English proficiency are preferred; no visa sponsorship is available.

Qualifications

• Preferably 1 year of experience performing GTAW or GMAW welding.
• Strong GMAW, GTAW welding skills and knowledge of equipment operations.
• Able to read cut sheets and engineering prints.
• Knowledge of basic metallurgy and weld symbols.
• Able to read and follow directions in English and adhere to shop safety.

Responsibilities

• Set up the work area, verify materials for production, and meet daily welding production and quality demands.
• Weld stainless steel and black iron in different positions and gauges; occasionally weld other materials.
• Troubleshoot welding equipment.
• Comply with health, safety, OSHA, and environmental procedures; maintain area cleanliness.
• Follow Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and TWI methodologies to improve production, safety, and quality.
• Learn and expand knowledge within the role; perform other duties as assigned.

The primary responsibilities of this position include performing GTAW and GMAW in a manner that ensures the production of our high-quality line of PSP® products.

Explore Your Tasks And Responsibilities

• Set up the work area, select and verify the material for production, and meet the daily welding production and quality demands of the Weld Shop.
• Weld the following in different positions and on different gauges: stainless steel and black iron. Occasionally expected to weld other materials.
• Troubleshoot the welding equipment.
• Comply with health, safety, (including OSHA), and environmental procedures, and ensure the cleanliness of the area.
• Comply with established production philosophies designed to increase production, safety and/or quality, e.g., Lean Manufacturing, 5s and TWI methodologies.
• Continue to learn and expand one’s capacity within this job by increasing knowledge and skill base.
• Perform various other assignments per Department Lead’s direction.
• Other duties and related work may be assigned as necessary.

Show Your Expertise

• Preferably a minimum of 1 year of experience performing GTAW or GMAW welding.
• Strong GMAW, GTAW welding skills and a knowledge of how all the equipment operates.
• Able to read and understand cut sheets and engineering prints thoroughly.
• Knowledge of basic metallurgy and weld symbols
• Able to speak and understand English, with a focus on following directions, adhering to basic shop safety procedures, and meeting production standards.
• Knowledge of basic sheet metal layout.
• Math skills include basic arithmetic and geometry.
• Can accurately read a tape measure to 1/16"
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, bending, sitting, and use of hands is required
• Specific vision abilities required to include close vision, and ability to adjust focus
• Occasionally perform physical activities including lifting (up to 50 lbs. unassisted)
