Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation is seeking a Welder at our Lake Crystal, MN facility to build high-quality truck bodies and components. You will set up welding equipment, read blueprints, and ensure alignment with production standards in a safety-focused environment.

The role requires basic math skills, ability to pass welding certifications, and willingness to operate multiple machines. On-site, with competitive pay and robust benefits, including health coverage and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math for measuring, assembling, and problem-solving.
• Ability to demonstrate welding ability and pass required welding certifications.
• Ability to read and understand complicated instructions, blueprints, and work orders.
• Basic computer skills for simple data entry.
• Ability and willingness to learn and operate multiple machines and jigs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate welding equipment to weld and assemble truck bodies, hoists, and fabricated parts (including robotic welding equipment, as applicable).
• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and measuring devices.
• Make welding equipment adjustments as needed to meet quality and production standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Support continuous improvement and lean initiatives by following process flow and remaining flexible to support team needs.
• Rotate between machines and jigs within the job area as required by scheduling, team needs, or safety recommendations.

What You’ll Do

As a Welder at TBEI, you’ll play a hands-on role in building high-quality truck bodies, hoists, and fabricated components.

What We’re Looking For

Physical Requirements

• Ability to manually move products and materials up to 50 pounds through regular physical activity, including climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending.
• Ability to stand and work in various positions for several hours at a time.
• Work is primarily performed on concrete surfaces, ladders, and inside dump bodies.

Pay & Schedule

• Wages: $22.00–$30.00 per hour
• $1.00/hour stainless steel premium (when applicable)
• Pay Type: Non-exempt, hourly (bi-weekly pay)
• Schedule: Four (4) 10-hour days, Monday–Thursday Overtime as needed on Fridays
• Location: On-site – 52182 Ember Road, Lake Crystal, MN 56055
• Travel: Minimal to none
