Job description

Join to apply for the Welder B role at Johnson Controls.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Satisfactorily completing company-approved work samples demonstrating welding expertise according to company standards.
  2. Operating manual welding units and equipment by depositing metal from electrode to workpiece and joining edges.
  3. Maintaining arc length and speed of movement to form specified fusion depth and bead.
  4. Welding aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and galvanized materials.
  5. Repairing improperly welded pieces and filling holes.
  6. Positioning and clamping workpieces or assembling them in fixtures.
  7. Tacking assemblies together.
  8. Maintaining a clean, safe work area and following safety regulations.
  9. Cross-training and sharing knowledge with peers.
  10. Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, with 6 months or more of prior MIG welding experience preferred. Certification is preferred but not required. Candidates should be able to work independently, demonstrate shop math skills, and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings. Prior work experience or vocational training is a plus.
