Description

Set up and perform manual welding to repair castings to industry, internal, and customer specifications using the GTAW weld process. Perform all upgrade operations as needed, including set up, preheat, clamping, grinding, blending, and visual inspection of welds, to restore castings to close tolerances per customer standards. Work from Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), drawings, sketches, and specifications, using measuring tools to check tolerances and interpass/preheat temperatures. Produce NDT quality welds using .045 to .093" dia. weld rod, maintaining proper weld rod per alloy. Assist in developing new repair techniques based on experience. Perform TPM, adjustments, and ensure calibrations are current on welding equipment. Maintain processes, procedures, and records in accordance with Nadcap requirements.

Requirements

• Two to four years related experience in TIG welding.
• Ability to pass a position 1G Vee-Groove weld qualification in a 300 Series Stainless Steel weld plate, including visual, PT, RT, bend, and tensile testing.
• Ability to pass and maintain all required certifications, including weld tests as per ASME Sec.IX, MIL-STD-1595A, S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 & 278, AMS 2694A, or equivalent.
• Must pass and maintain an acceptable vision examination.
• Must pass and maintain welder workmanship training and certification.
• Ability to read and retain work instructions specific to the weld program.
