Overview

You will be responsible for preparing metal for weld operations per customer specifications, drawings, and instructions from engineering. Primary duty is performing welding operations on various customer products using manual and/or robotic welding equipment.






Responsibilities




Responsibilities include:

Using provided setup sheet operators verify correct filler metal is installed, changes filler as needed.
  • Adjusts weld gas flow per given wps instructions.
  • Sets up manual weld machine or downloads program per set up sheet instructions.
  • Verifies proper tooling is installed in the robot or staged in manual area.
  • Reviews weld requirements from weld prints (size, spacing, location, ECT).
  • Loads and locates parts into tooling per print and work instructions.
  • Welds part per customer provided prints.
  • Removes weld spatter and scale from finished parts.
  • May be required to remove material by grinding (metal finishing) using power tools and manually to meet customer specifications.
  • Performs quality checks per set up sheet.
  • Maintains welding equipment and sees that work area is orderly and clean.
  • Setup and operate robotic weld cells.
  • Required to rework parts up to customer specifications.
  • All other duties assigned





Qualifications




EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year equivalent experience in various forms of welding, preferably in a production environment, and preferably a Trade of V-Tech degree in related field.

Proficient in assigned MIG welding techniques.

Has knowledge of wire and filler materials and gases applicable for various alloys, working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.).

Successful completion of an internal welding test, and the ability to achieve certification to customer requirements as applicable.

Ability to read blueprints, especially weld requirement symbols.

What Does It Take to Be a Fit for This Role?

  • Minimum one year of related experience is preferred.
  • Experience as a welder and running a robotic welder.
  • Must be able to read blueprints, work orders, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to pass a hands on and written test.
  • Ability to understand and follow at MEC safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to left up to 50 lbs at a time. This position involves a lot of bending, twisting and lifting.
