Job summary

Nidec Motor Corporation in Lexington, VA is seeking a skilled Welder to assemble and weld shells, rings, and feet for generators on the first shift. You will set up welders, inspect fit and finish, and work from complex drawings to ensure precise alignment of components.

You will perform MIG welding, verify heights with gauges, and maintain safe, clean work areas while following TPM tasks and supervisor directions.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read complex drawings and blueprint dimensions.
  • Experience with MIG welding and setup on production welders.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles and welds shells, rings, and feet for generators
  • Places stator core on mandrel, assembles shell and rings
  • Gauges height and then tacks weld together
  • Assembles and welds feet to frame and core assembly
  • Corrects settings on welders including speeds and feeds as well as proper setup of product to be welded
  • Inspects quality of material being welded to prevent rework
  • Includes MIG welding
  • Protects other employees from flash of arc which could cause damage to eyes
  • Wears welding hood, gloves, and other protection as dictated
  • Exercises good housekeeping in work area
  • Observes good safety practices in performance of job
  • Performs daily/weekly TPM tasks and completes checksheets
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Team Leader

Job Description

Assembles and welds shells, rings, and feet for generators. Also corrects settings, speeds, and feeds on welders including proper setup of product to be welded.
