Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Welder 3 in Sanford, NC. The role involves MIG welding, carbon air arc repairs, and quality inspections in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will use common tools, follow blueprints, and participate in safety and continuous improvement practices.

Starting pay is $26.75 per hour, with a potential up to $33.45 per hour. Benefits begin Day One, and eligibility extends to the standard Caterpillar total rewards program. Shift is 1st shift, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• At least one year of welding experience.
• At least one year of carbon air arc experience.
• Must be able to pass 2F fillet weld, 4F fillet weld (overhead) & 2G groove weld tests.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding duties using tools in the work area, including manual MIG welding.
• Repair defective welds using carbon air arc process and grinders.
• Inspect own work with weld gauges and measuring tools to ensure quality.
• Move heavy components using lifting devices as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance like wire and tip/nozzle changes in qualified stations.
• Rotate to various positions within the function area to perform related activities.
• Follow documented procedures, standard work, routings, and blueprints for safe operations.
• Apply CPS principles of 5S, continuous improvement, and waste elimination.

What this looks like:

• 1st shift: Monday - Friday 6:15AM - 2:15pm
• 1st shift starting pay: $26.75/hour

As a Welder 3 at Caterpillar, you will:

• Uses various tools provided in the work area to perform welding duties including but not limited to manual MIG Welding
• Repair defective welds utilizing carbon air arc process, grinders, etc.
• Inspect own work including quality checks utilizing weld and attribute gages and other measuring tools.
• Use lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs.
• Complete routine maintenance (wire change, tip/nozzle change) in all qualified workstations.
• Rotate to various positions within the Job Function area to perform related activities.
• Follow documented procedures, standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect-free operations
• Follow and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work
• Responsible for process and final inspections
• Function as part of a team, willing to be multi-trained and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
• Ability to perform repetitive operations
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Basic Requirements:

• At least one year of welding experience

Summary Pay Range:
