Working at our Cincinnati Aviation Component Service Center:

Our ACSC facility develops and conducts a wide array of engine component repairs, including rotating parts, complex assemblies, and nozzles on 29 different engine models.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Broad Function:

  • Perform layout, setup, and welding on various aircraft engine components and assemblies from planning, verbal instructions, prints, or sketches.
  • Fabricate, repair, or rework using all required welding and cutting processes, including manual arc (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, TIG), semi-automated (GTAW, PAW, LW, EBW), machine weld (RSW, Dabber), oxyacetylene, plasma, flame brazing/soldering, TIG brazing, and arc brazing.
  • Use argon chambers and gas backups; fabricate heat sinks and related items for welding operations.
  • Prepare surfaces with files, grinders, and perform manual dimensional restoration.
  • Achieve certification on required processes; restore dimensional and structural integrity of engine hardware using various techniques.
  • Use all types of measuring instruments; perform fluorescent dye penetrant testing as required.
  • Maintain associated documentation, work to quality and efficiency standards.
  • Train or direct others; interact with engineers on tooling and repair process design.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience or schooling in various welding and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to work from prints, sketches, or verbal instructions to weld parts and assemblies.
  • Proficiency in fabricating, repairing, or reworking using listed processes; experience with argon chambers and backups.
  • Ability to read measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
  • Certification within 8 hours per base material group, with periodic recertification.
  • Skill in using hand tools, grinders, and restoring dimensions.
  • Ability to operate material handling and lifting devices; forklift license as needed.
  • Pass welding skills demonstration; minimum of 5 years GTAW welding experience.
  • Must pass eye requirements per AWS D17.194.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with dye penetrant testing.
  • Welding schooling certificate.
  • Previous experience on aircraft hardware.
  • Weld certification in various alloys, including corrosion and heat resistant materials.
  • Ten or more years of verified GTAW experience.
