Responsibilities include reading blueprints, planning procedures, inspecting parts and equipment, and performing various welding tasks on sheet metal. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work extended hours is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Welding experience or welding certificate required.
  • Sheet metal production welding experience preferred.
  • Must pass welding test.
  • Able to read blueprints and engineering specs.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and work extended hours.

  • Plans work procedures, tools, and material needs.

  • Builds up worn surfaces.
  • Keeps work area clean.

Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Simi Valley Plant - SImi Vallely, CA 93063Salary Range: $22.00 - $23.15 HourlyJob Shift: Second ShiftSets up and operates gas and electric welding equipment used in the manufacturing of metal cabinets. Responsible for meeting safety, quality, and productivity expectations.

  • Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates different types of equipment used to weld metal cabinets and other related products.
  • Plans details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements.
  • Inspects and maintains equipment for compliance with safety requirements. Corrects any safety issues before performing operations.
  • Inspect welded parts by the work-in-process inspection procedure and ensure they meet engineering specifications. Resolves quality and mechanical problems, making minor repairs and equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Fabricates equipment by cutting and welding various metals. Welds sheet metal using different welding positions (flat, overhead, vertical, etc.).
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces (including sanding) to be welded.
  • Uses cutting torch equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
  • Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Works from blueprint, engineering specifications and production schedules.
  • Upon completion of welding operations, assists other areas as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent education preferred.
  • Must have some welding experience or a welding certificate.
  • Production welding with sheet metal experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the capability of welding sheet metal products by passing a welding test.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and engineering specifications. Basic reading, writing and numerical ability.
  • Proficient in using measuring devices as required for product inspection.
  • Available and willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as production demands dictate.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Work involves varying degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable.
  • Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing work.
  • Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working on overhead structures.
  • Considerable glare emits from work, requiring the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Work area must be carefully enclosed to prevent injury to others from sparks and flying chips.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs.

Pay range $22.00 - $23.15/hour DOE
