Job summary

Volvo Construction Equipment is seeking a skilled Welder to join our Production team in the United States. You will perform welding operations to manufacture and repair structural components while upholding safety, quality, and production standards.

Responsibilities include setting up welding equipment, interpreting drawings, and ensuring weld quality. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and accurate record-keeping within our production environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of GMAW and FCAW welding experience, or equivalent welder experience with certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and FCAW on carbon steel components.

What You Will Do

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our Production team. In this role, you will perform a variety of welding operations to manufacture and repair structural and mechanical components. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality welds while adhering to safety, quality, and production standards

In This Role, You Will
  • Perform Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), and other welding processes on carbon steel components.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, production orders, and welding specifications to complete assigned work.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, fixtures, positioners, and related tools.
  • Select appropriate welding materials and processes according to established procedures.
  • Maintain weld quality standards and ensure all work meets company welding specifications.
  • Identify and report equipment issues, material defects, drawing discrepancies, and safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with team members to support production goals and operational needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Record production information accurately in designed systems.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of GMAW and FCAW welding experience, or previous welder experience with maintained certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Commitment to following all safety requirements and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment.
  • Experience operating cranes, hoists, lift trucks, or other material handling equipment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift, frequently up to 8-12 hours.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements while operating welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to grasp, handle, manipulate, and operate tools, controls, and welding equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, parts, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds independently and heavier weights with assistance or mechanical lifting devices.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and various body positions, including overhead, horizontal, and vertical welding positions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work platforms as required.
  • Sufficient visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, to read blueprints, work instructions, measuring devices, and inspect weld quality.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, shapes, and dimensions as necessary for welding, fabrication, inspection, and safety purposes.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to wear and work in required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, face shields, respirators (where required), safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, and protective clothing.
  • Ability to work safely in environments exposed to heat, sparks, fumes, dust, noise, vibration, and varying temperatures.

For this position, the base pay is set at $27.72 - $35.12/hour, and where applicable, bonus eligible.
