Job summary

Belcan Corporation is seeking a Welder for the 2nd shift in East Granby, CT. The role offers pay between $25 and $40 per hour plus a 15% shift differential (DoE), with direct hire status. Schedule is 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, 3:30pm–12:00am.

Qualified candidates will have aerospace TIG welding experience and 5–10 years of welding experience, GTAW certification, and knowledge of AWS D17.1 and PWA 16. You will read blueprints, use precision gauges, and complete required paperwork while maintaining

• Aerospace and TIG welding experience strongly desired.
• 5-10 years welding experience required.
• Certification in GTAW; AWS D17.1; PWA 16 (in any group material).
• Candidates will be required to pass welding certification tests for current materials used in the shop.
• Read, interpret, and process blueprints and operation sheets.
• Capable of using all standard bench tools and gauges for setup, inspection, and welding of assemblies.
• Complete required quarterly process control samples.
• Complete logs, check sheets, job orders, and other paperwork for each job performed.
• Maintain a neat and orderly workstation and promote housekeeping.
• Able to multitask in manufacturing cell environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.
• Read weld blueprints, engineered drawings, and follow work orders.
• Set up the welding machine for specific materials, thicknesses, and positions using fixtures and a weld positioner.
• Dimensionally inspect welds and parts using calipers, protractors, and gauges.
• Inspect all parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects.
• Work outside department as required.
• Complete tasks per manufacturing schedules and standard times.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear PPE.
• Maintain compliance with laws and internal policies.

Your Expertise

Your Challenge

• Prepare materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.
• Read weld blueprints, engineered drawings, and follow work order requirements.
• Set up the welding machine for specific materials, thicknesses, and positions using complicated weld fixtures and weld positioner (turntable).
• Dimensionally inspects welds and other characteristics of parts being welded using tools such as calipers, protractors, and gauges.
• Inspects all parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects.
• Work outside department as required
• Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times
• Follow all safety guidelines and wears all Personal Protective Equipment
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED Equivalent is required
