Job summary

Belcan Corporation is seeking a Welder for the 2nd shift in East Granby, CT. The role requires aerospace and TIG welding experience, 5–10 years of welding, and GTAW/AWS/D17.1 certifications. Candidates must read blueprints, use precise measuring tools, and pass shop-specific welding tests.

Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential. The position is a direct-hire, 2nd shift role with schedule Monday–Friday, 3:30pm–12:00am.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 5-10 years of welding experience.
• Certification in GTAW; AWS D17.1; PWA 16 in any group material.
• Able to pass welding certification tests for current shop materials.
• Read, interpret, and process blueprints and operation sheets.
• Capable of using standard bench tools and gauges (calipers, height gauges, micrometers, microscopes).
• Complete required quarterly process control samples.
• Maintain logs, check sheets, and job orders for each job performed.
• Keep workstation neat and promote good housekeeping.
• Able to multitask in a manufacturing cell environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials for welding; cut, grind and clean metal.
• Read weld blueprints and engineered drawings, follow work orders.
• Set up welding machine for materials, thicknesses and positions using fixtures and turntable.
• Dimensionally inspect welds and parts using calipers, protractors and gauges.
• Inspect all parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear PPE.
• Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and standard times.
• Maintain compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.

Your Expertise

• Aerospace and TIG welding experience are strongly desired

Your Challenge

• Prepare materials for welding; cuts, grinds and cleans metal.
• Read weld blueprints, engineered drawings, and follow work order requirements.
• Set up the welding machine for specific materials, thicknesses, and positions using complicated weld fixtures and weld positioner (turntable).
• Dimensionally inspects welds and other characteristics of parts being welded using tools such as calipers, protractors, and gauges.
• Inspects all parts for proper assembly and cosmetic defects.
• Work outside department as required
• Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times
• Follow all safety guidelines and wears all Personal Protective Equipment
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED Equivalent is required
