Job summary

BlueScope Buildings North America in Evansville, Wisconsin, is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. The position offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus, paid as $1,500 at 90 days and $1,500 at one year, with a starting pay of $28.60 per hour plus a $2.50 per hour shift differential.

Work hours are Monday–Friday from 2:00pm to 10:00pm, with some overtime. The role involves fabricating and repairing metal components to exact specifications, using blueprints and a variety of tools in a

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings or schematics to determine welding processes.
• Position, align, fit and weld parts according to blueprints and specifications using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
• Safely lift and position materials using cranes and forklifts.
• Inspect materials before, during, and after production to ensure exact specifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
• Maintain material inventory and support housekeeping and 5-S practices.

What You'll Do

• Join and Fabricate: Interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings or schematics to determine appropriate welding processes.
• Prepare and Set Up: Position, align, fit and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools
• Lift and Position Materials: Safely use lifting devices, such as cranes and forklifts, to position materials or parts as needed.
• Ensure Quality: Utilize measuring tools and processes to perform inspections before, during, and after production, ensuring materials meet exact specifications.
• Contribute to Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
• Maintain and Organize: Keep track of material inventory, perform machine maintenance, and support housekeeping and organizational standards, such as 5-S practices.
